Learning At St Andrews
We engage learners actively by flipping the lessons. Flipping the lesson means the passive activities such as note taking is done outside of the classroom and contact time is used for hands on activities and deeper learning opportunities. Flipping the lesson means that learners enter the classroom with enriched prior knowledge which is a springboard for richer learning experiences.
New staff is given professional development so that they are equipped with pedagogical skills that put the learner at the centre of instruction. Teachers work in pairs per classroom to give maximum help to the learners. Decisions that teachers make are driven by data so as to accurately pinpoint challenges learners face.
We create a positive learning environment where all learners thrive and are safe. Teachers have high expectations of learners and endeavor to bring the best out of them. Highest level of discipline is inculcated in learners who are grounded in Christian ethos. Learners are allowed to inquire and problem solve in their environments. A growth mindset is encouraged of all learners.
